Reading Tarot Cards online
Tarot cards are one of the most widely used decks in history.
One of the first things that pops into people's minds when
they think about reading tarot cards is a scary movie scene
featuring a gypsy flipping over the "Death" card.
Due to their dark reputation, some people would have you
believe that tarot cards are much too powerful and dangerous
for the average person to be fooling with. That couldn't be
farther from the truth.
A brand new deck of tarot cards has almost no energy or power
at all. It's simply a tool we can use to bring our intuitive
thoughts and vibrations to the light. It can be a fun way
to relieve some stress, or a kind of therapy that helps up
truly see our lives for what they are.
Learning to read tarot cards isn't difficult, but it will
take time. You don't need to be classified as "psychic"
in order to be able to read tarot cards correctly. However,
it's rare to find people that are naturally intuitive enough
to interpret the cards initially with comfort, so don't feel
worried if you're struggling to remember meanings in the beginning.
Here are a few steps for those who are new to reading tarot
cards:
- Get yourself a brand new deck of tarot cards. I recommend
getting a brand new deck so that you know the cards haven't
been tainted with anyone else's energy. The most common
deck is the Rider-Waite deck, and it comes with an instructional
booklet you might find helpful.
- Spend some time with your deck and let it absorb your
energies. Look through the images on each card and notice
how the picture ma;es you feel. You will use these feelings
to help you interpret the cards.
- Store your cards in a special bag or box by themselves
to preserve and protect it's energies.
- When you're ready, prepare yourself to do a reading. Take
a few deep, cleansing breaths. Shuffle the cards however
you feel comfortable.
- Place the cards in a spread. Here is a website that lists
various tarot card spreads: http://www.learntarot.com/course.htm#spreads.
Pick a simple one, like the Celtic cross at: http://www.learntarot.com/ccross.htm
.
- Use your intuition (and an instruction booklet if needed)
to interpret each card's meanings and determine how it relates
to your life. Notice whether the cards are right side up
or upside down. Upside down cards are also called reversed
cards. They usually represent a conflict or suppressed/blocked
energy. They may also indicate weakness of the card's meaning
for that particular position.
- Remember that your future isn't set in stone. The cards
portraying events in your future are only relevant at the
time of your reading. You can easily change the outcome
of your future by making different choices, so don't ever
fear your future or depend on miracles to come.
- Practice often and enjoy yourself. Never force yourself
to practice with your tarot deck when you're in a bad mood.
You'll just be tainting your deck with negative energies,
which will make future readings harder to perform and more
unpleasant.
- Avoid letting other people touch your deck, unless your
reading tarot cards for them. Even then, they should only
handle your deck while cutting or shuffling it (which you
can let them do during their readings).
Reading tarot cards should be a fun and enjoyable experience
for you. With a little practice and patience you'll be reading
tarot cards like a pro!
